Legal legend Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN), and Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau on their appointments to important FIFA committees.

The newly created positions place Nigerian professionals at the center of FIFA’s policymaking and oversight mechanisms, marking yet another significant turning point in the country’s involvement in international football governance.

Falode joins the Media and Communications Committee, Mustapha is appointed to the Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, and Gusau joins the FIFA Men’s Club Competitions Committee.

The appointments are “a reflection of Nigeria’s intellectual capital and strategic importance in international football,” according to Pinnick.

“To President Gusau, your unifying leadership continues to lift Nigerian football,” he said, noting the unique contributions made by each appointee to the game. Your intelligence and moral character, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN, will strengthen FIFA’s dedication to equality and justice. And many African women are inspired by Aisha Falode’s rise from sports journalist to international football executive.

Pinnick also acknowledged Falode’s groundbreaking achievements in women’s football administration and the media. As the first female member of CAF’s Media and Communications Committee, the former chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League builds on this distinction in her current position with FIFA.
