The pardon coincides with the celebration of Nigeria’s 65th year of independence.

According to a statement released by Fintiri on Wednesday, the prisoners’ conduct and behavior had significantly improved.

“Therefore, in accordance with the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy’s recommendations and in the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as guaranteed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution, I have pardoned six individuals who have served a variety of jail terms and have shown a great deal of good behavior over the years,” he stated.

The governor who issued the order for their immediate release has also instructed the appropriate authorities to implement the decision immediately.

Wamari Godwin, Abraham Marksunil, David Paul, Ibrahim Adamu, Usman Inuwa, and Sani Yahaya are among those who were released.

Nigeria celebrates its freedom from British colonial authority in 1960 by declaring October 1st as Independence Day, a public holiday.

Along with community celebrations, official events, cultural exhibits, and presidential addresses, schools and state governments also host special programs to commemorate the day.
However, the customary military parades were canceled by the federal government this year.
