This came after President Bola Tinubu met with prominent Katsina State residents on Tuesday and announced that the Federal Government will expedite the transfer of authority to sub-national levels and provide newly deployed forest guards with more equipment.

Tinubu told the group, which was led by Governor Dikko Radda, “I am reviewing all the aspects of security; I have to create a state police.”

Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, praised the President’s repeated appeal on Thursday.

In an interview with The PUNCH in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Ajayi said he hoped Tinubu will clear the backlog of implementation delays by the end of 2025.

The concept of state police has been a hot topic for a long time, as everyone knows. As you may remember, Tinubu has always expressed his wish to establish state police.

“In fact, judging by Mr. President’s demeanor, one would have assumed that the plan would have gained traction sooner,” he said.
