Popular TikTok creator Peller has found himself at the center of controversy after videos surfaced showing tense moments with his girlfriend, fellow influencer Jarvis.

The 20-year-old, known for his skits and marathon livestreams, appeared in one clip trying to force Jarvis into a car, grabbing her by the head. Another clip showed him shoving and striking her inside the vehicle. The footage spread quickly across social media, sparking outrage and raising uncomfortable questions about what kind of behavior gets normalized in online spaces.

As the backlash mounted, Peller issued a lengthy Instagram response, defending himself and expressing frustration at how the viral clips framed him.

“I streamed almost 6 hours, but a 30-second clip with good intention is being pushed to paint me wrongly,” he wrote. “I’m just 20, still figuring life out, trying to provide for myself and my family. Sometimes it feels like people don’t care if I break down or even lose myself in the process.”

He continued:

“I’ve never seen a 20-year-old dragged, put down, and torn apart like I am… but every single time, I rise again.”

But his words have not silenced critics. Many online voices; from everyday fans to advocacy groups argue the clips show more than just “taken out of context” content. They worry about the message such behavior sends to millions of young Nigerians who follow influencers like Peller and Jarvis.

For others, the controversy underscores a larger cultural issue: the way toxic dynamics are sometimes packaged as entertainment in the fast-paced world of social media.

As of Monday, Jarvis herself has not spoken publicly about the incident, leaving more questions than answers about the couple’s relationship and how the situation will unfold.
