The statement claims that Yemi Sanusi, the party’s State Chairman, presided over the Tuesday meeting, which had 16 participants.

According to the statement, the meeting took into consideration the reports of the Disciplinary Committees looking into claims of wrongdoing and anti-party activities against the two members of Sagamu Local Government’s Ward IV and Ward VI, respectively.

The Sagamu local government’s Ward IV established a disciplinary committee to investigate Daniel’s alleged misbehavior, which bordered on anti-party activities.

In a same vein, Ward VI established a disciplinary committee in response to the claims of serious misbehavior and anti-party actions made by Folarin.

They addressed letters to the members who were being investigated, encouraging them to attend the disciplinary hearings where they would be heard, given the opportunity to defend themselves with evidence, and asked the party for forgiveness.

But both members did not reply to the written invitations, did not present a written defense, and did not show up for the disciplinary hearings when they were supposed to have the chance to explain themselves.

“The committees deliberated as scheduled, heard from the available witnesses, considered the available documentary evidence, and deliberated on the allegations in light of their purposeful and inexplicable absences,” the statement read.

The party further stated that after giving it careful thought, the committees suspended the members indefinitely, pending the conclusion of their investigation and additional research.

It clarified that copies of the letters of indefinite suspension had been forwarded to the state chairman for the State Working Committee’s review and approval.

The suspensions have been approved by the SWC. The party said, “The meeting shows the party’s commitment to upholding its constitution and maintaining discipline.”
