According to the nation’s judiciary news portal, Mizan, “one of the perpetrators of the brutal murder of four members of a family in Beyram, in Fars province, was hanged in public on Tuesday.”
Rights organizations like Amnesty International say that Iran, which is second only to China in terms of the number of executions it performs, punishes murder and rape with the death penalty.
Public executions in Iran are often carried out by hanging at first light.
“During a robbery in October 2024, the accused and his spouse killed a mother and three children,” Mizan stated.
According to Iranian media, the pair was given a death sentence in February 2025, and the Supreme Court upheld the decision in April.
Without providing a date, Mizan stated that the man’s wife would be executed in prison.
