Nigerian reality TV star and entrepreneur Natacha “Tacha” Akide is preparing to make history. The former Big Brother Naija contestant announced she will attempt a Guinness World Record for the most makeovers completed in 24 hours during her upcoming beauty festival in Lagos.

The three-day event will take place October 10–12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History. Far more than a showcase of makeup and glamour, the festival is being billed as a celebration of culture, commerce, and creativity at the heart of Nigeria’s booming beauty industry.

“This is bigger than just a beauty event,” Akide said. “We are shaping history while celebrating Nigeria’s creative industry. I want Nigerians to see the power of our beauty culture as a global force.”

The festival will include masterclasses, business workshops, exhibitions, and networking sessions spanning makeup, skincare, haircare, wellness, and fashion. Organizers hope the gathering will spotlight the Nigerian beauty sector’s growing influence; an industry projected to contribute significantly to Africa’s creative economy in the coming years.

Akide, initially a popular Instagram influencer who rose to nationwide fame through Big Brother Naija before building her brand as an entrepreneur, says the Guinness World Record attempt is about more than personal achievement. “It’s about showing the world what Nigerians can do when creativity meets determination,” she added.

If successful, the record-breaking challenge could cement Akide’s place as a trailblazer while positioning Nigeria’s beauty culture on a global stage, opening doors for more African innovators to merge artistry with international recognition.
