Umar Abubakar, the NCoS spokesperson, signed a press release on Tuesday announcing the news.
According to the release, 30 Controllers of Corrections have been promoted to the esteemed position of Assistant Controller General of Corrections by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board.
The promotions were given in accordance with CDCFIB’s dedication to “professional excellence, merit-based advancement, and the continuous strengthening of leadership within the Nigerian Correctional Service,” according to Abubakar.
Twenty-seven general duty officers who have proven to be exceptionally committed and capable in a variety of formations around the nation are among the recently promoted officers.
The statement also stated that three professional officers had been promoted in honor of their exceptional service and specific contributions in the fields of public health, nursing, and medical laboratory science.
The statement said that the promotion process was in line with the Service’s ongoing reforms, which are a major component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The statement attributed the reform momentum to Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of the Interior, whose work was characterized as “unprecedented” and “unwavering.”
Sylvester Nwakuche, the Controller General of Corrections, welcomed the recently promoted officers and urged them to take on the duties of their new positions.
He urged them to put in even more effort toward strategic leadership, service delivery, and the fundamental goals of reformation, rehabilitation, and inmate reintegration.
He also emphasized that the promotions are “a call to higher responsibility in line with global best practices in correctional management,” rather than just being awards for prior service.
Nwakuche continued, “The Service is still dedicated to developing a professional, disciplined, and driven workforce that can handle the intricate demands of contemporary public safety and corrections.”
