The action was prompted by a tip regarding the terrorists’ intentions to wreak havoc on the people of Iburu hamlet.

Before the security forces intervened, a number of terrorists were seen riding motorcycles toward the village to launch an attack, according to a DSS statement released on Monday.

“In Iburu village, Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, troops of the Nigerian Army and hybrid forces, supported by intelligence assistance from the DSS, murdered at least 45 bandits terrorizing the area on Friday evening.

“The DSS promptly notified soldiers on standby after receiving information that terrorists on multiple motorcycles were moving forward to attack Iburu and nearby villages.”

At least 45 terrorists were killed by the army during the ensuing battle. At least 40 dead bodies, thought to be those of the bandits, were reported by the residents. The statement also stated that many of the criminals’ motorcycles had been wrecked in the battle.

However, four other individuals who were shot were admitted and are undergoing treatment at a public hospital in the state capital, while two hybrid force members paid the supreme prize.

Four more were reportedly being treated for severe bullet wounds at a public hospital in the state capital, while two members of the hybrid forces fighting alongside the military were killed, the statement continued.
