According to the Command, the breakthrough came after a resident of Ungwan Ninzom, Jagindi Tasha village, submitted a distress complaint after her son, Hussaini Ibrahim, was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed the development in a statement, stating that Kafanchan Division agents quickly responded and began a manhunt for the culprits.
“In a follow-up operation on February 24th, the victim, Hussaini Ibrahim, was rescued from a nearby bush with a gunshot wound on his leg,” he stated. After receiving emergency care at a neighboring clinic, he was brought back to his family.
Later, four people were taken into custody in relation to the kidnapping. Among them are Buhari Muhammad, also known as “General,” 31, of Bayya village; Ahmadu Nasiru, 51, of Gidan Waya; Zakari Saleh, 50, of Gidan Waya; and Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30, of Jagindi Tasha.
Three fake AK-47 rifles and one English-style AK-47 rifle were found among the items retrieved from them.
The accused would then face charges in court, Hassan continued, adding that an investigation was underway to capture further gang members.
Another development is that on July 23, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, under the command of CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious waybill in Kaduna. A fake AK-47 gun was concealed in a sack within the shipment, which was traveling from Jos to Gusau, Zamfara State.
In Gusau, two suspects who tried to accept the firearm were apprehended right away. They were identified as Naziru Musa and Abdulmumin Sani. After investigations, they will be arraigned; they are presently in custody.
The operation showed the Command’s renewed commitment to addressing insecurity in the state, said Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Muhammad, who commended the operatives.
“We are committed to ensuring that criminals cannot operate in Kaduna State.” He also praised IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, for his ongoing assistance in the war on crime.
