These days, Nancy Isime is a household name; the kind of star whose face lights up billboards, and whose voice anchors some of the biggest shows in Africa. But behind the glamour is a chapter of her story that’s raw, real, and deeply human.

In a moving social media post, the Nollywood actress and TV host peeled back the curtain on her early hustle; a time when, at just 17, she was working long nights as a model and usher, often without money for transport or a place to sleep.

“There were nights I would finish working and have nowhere to go,” she wrote. “So I’d just sleep on benches or rugs at the event venue.”

It was a dangerous grind. Her family was worried. Her father, especially. But Nancy had made a decision to figure life out her own way, rebellion and all.

Then came a moment that would change everything.

Stranded and exhausted, Nancy reached out to someone she barely knew : Afro-pop star Yemi Alade. She needed a place to stay, just for a while. What she got was more than shelter.

“She didn’t even blink,” Nancy wrote. “She took me in. I stayed for weeks and this woman NEVER EVER complained. In fact, the peace in her home was too much.”

Yemi Alade,  known for her powerhouse vocals and global hits, quietly became a safe haven in a time of chaos. No fanfare. No conditions. Just kindness.

Today, years later, Nancy still remembers. Still feels the warmth.

“She’s one of the bookmarks of kindness in my life,” she said. “I’ll always have the softest spot for her.”

Eventually, Nancy got into university and found her own apartment (in the same building as Yemi.) The bond endured. The gratitude deepened.

“My Padi @yemialade, I dey for you for life,” she ended the post, a blend of street slang and sincere affection.
