In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party made this claim.
Ortom claimed that his criticism of Buhari’s administration was limited to its failure to adequately address the security issues facing his state at the time.
The former governor of Benue justified his conduct by stating that he had to speak up in order to keep his people safe.
“I didn’t despise Buhari, his administration, or any Fulani man,” he declared. I stood for nothing more than the fact that I was elected to protect and care for my own people.
“I was merely carrying out my duties, and I did blame the previous administration for not doing enough to address our security issues.” I had to speak up because I couldn’t stand by and see people being buried, but I didn’t stop there. My government was able to offer a remedy that we believed would address this issue.
The former governor claimed that if the Buhari administration had partnered with him and implemented the solution he suggested to eradicate the insecurity issue that still exists in Benue State, it would not have happened.
Ortom expressed his frustration with the Buhari administration and repeatedly voiced his concerns, claiming that the government’s proposed Ruga ranching program and other initiatives to solve the issue were nothing more than a front.
The invading herders storm villages to kill, destroy farms, rape women, and commit other atrocities, he insisted, denying that there is a herder-farmers crisis in Nigeria.
