Five of the FCT’s six area councils were won by the All Progressives Congress (APC), demonstrating the party’s enduring dominance in the region.
In a post-election special show, Wike claimed that the polls revealed politicians who used dishonest campaign strategies.
“This election has demonstrated that Nigerians are now aware of the opposition party and the ruling party,” he remarked.
Campaign tactics meant to deceive voters were criticized by him, and he added:
“The hypocrisy of individuals who purchase corn and groundnuts from street vendors for a campaign solely to defraud Nigerians has been further exposed by the election.”
Wike also commended the FCT’s citizens for their judgment in rejecting politicians who do not recognize the country’s growth.
“Emergency Democrats have chosen to see nothing positive in our country and its government, but the people of FCT showed that they cannot be fooled,” he stated.
The former governor attributed the election’s peaceful outcome to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s development agenda and leadership.
“I thank Mr President for the development he has brought to the FCT,” he added.
“This election is a reflection of the president’s vision and leadership, and a testimony that the Renewed Hope Agenda has brought optimism and confidence to the people of the FCT. No doubt, the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly the residents of the FCT, has not gone unnoticed. The Renewed Hope Agenda has given us hope for a brighter future, and we are confident that under his leadership, the FCT will continue to be a model of development and progress.”
