On September 27, Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, celebrated his 70th birthday with dignitaries, well-known clerics, friends, and family.

The popular cleric’s birthday party took place at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State. The auditorium was packed with visitors celebrating with him, all of whom were wearing white and blue outfits.

Even though Oyedepo had asked his followers to win souls for him as a birthday present prior, he was showered with gifts, including as an opulent Rolls Royce Cullinan and a N1 billion donation to feed 50,000 people at Canaanland.  Prior to this, President Bola Tinubu had praised Oyedepo’s heritage of developing leaders as well as the contributions his church has made to entrepreneurship, health, and education.

The birthday boy, surrounded by love and celebration, danced merrily to songs composed by Nathaniel Bassey and Adeyinka Alaseyori.

“I give glory to God,” Oyedepo remarked during the event. I stand in for Jesus, the icon of icons; he is my glory and my head’s raiser. I’m just putting up a front for him. He is the one who works nonstop behind the scenes. A man can only be what God’s grace is working through him. I shall always identify as a child of God’s grace rather than as an achiever.

Along with expressing pride in their marriage, his wife said she hoped to live in a mansion next to him in paradise.  The former president Olusegun Obasanjo, the governors of Lagos, Ogun, and Delta states—Dapo Abiodun, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Sheriff Oborevwori, respectively—as well as Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and prominent religious figures like Matthew Ashimolowo, Jerry Eze, Poju Oyemade, and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, and his wife Foluke have all attended the event.
