Alhaja Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, a well-known Islamic singer, has passed away.

Rukayat was well-known for her unique voice and her devotional songs, which struck a deep chord with many Muslims.

Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso and the late singer were wed.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, she was declared deceased.

Jubril Gawat, the deceased’s relative and Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed her passing.

Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu’s assistant, said, “Ina lillahi waina ilaehi rajiun.” Upon the passing of our cherished sister Rukayat, may the All-Powerful Allah, the giver and taker of life, comfort the family of my close brothers @Mr_JAGs @tfk_gawat.

“May Aljannah firdaus serve as her enduring residence. I pray that Allah gives you the strength to endure this irreversible loss.

Later on today, her remains will be buried in accordance with Islamic customs and ceremonies.
