He claimed, “I killed her because I had financial problems,” explaining how he had enticed the victim to his house with the promise of fixing her phone.
The event happened when Idowu, a Yaba College of Technology Industrial Training student, went to Adeleye’s house.
“She came to our house around 5pm on the day of the incident and asked me to repair her phone,” Adeleye recounted.
He then recalled the awful moment of the murder, claiming, “I just grabbed her, applied pressure. She began to struggle. She didn’t actually shout because I already suppressed her. I immediately pinched her throat, and she gave up.”
Following the murder, Adeleye proceeded on a ghoulish scheme to dispose of the body and extort money from the victim’s mother.
He explained that in the wee hours of the morning, he had dug a shallow grave behind his complex and buried Idowu’s body.
When I woke up the next day at four in the morning, I carried on digging. To be honest, I didn’t go to sleep till morning,” he remarked.
In a tragic twist, Adeleye then phoned Idowu’s mother, demanding ransom.
“I said, ‘Hello, madam,’ to her right away. “We possess your daughter,” he uttered.
By using coercion and intimidation, he extracted N360,000 from the distraught mother.
After taking the mother’s three million, Adeleye described the situation and stated, “I know for a fact that she didn’t have three million.” I was prepared to take any amount from her, even if she didn’t have it, as I was in dire need of money.
“After exchanging messages with her, she claimed to have obtained N350, 000.00. I provided her with a sporty bet account so she could transfer the funds without being detected.”
Adeleye, a man who killed his mother, was arrested after tracing his SportyBet account and uploading his National Identification Number. He admitted that his personal details were already on the account, and the girl’s phone was also with him. Adeleye expressed remorse for his actions and pleaded for God’s forgiveness. He expressed regret for killing his mother, stating that he didn’t deserve mercy but deserved death. He had been planning to kill himself while in the guard room.
