The incident happened around 12:45 am at the Old Toll Gate near Sabo-Lagere along the Ife-Ibadan expressway via Ife Grand Resorts, according to information obtained by The Nation.
According to security sources, some of the passengers on the minibus perished in the event, while others remained trapped. According to reports, the gas-laden vehicle lost control and collided with the minibus carrying a minimum of seventeen travelers.
Federal Rod Safety Corps (FRSC) Osun Commandant Taofeek Sokunbi clarified that his personnel were on the ground to rescue the occupants and evacuate the implicated vehicles.
Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun Command, verified that 17 individuals were stranded in the incidents.
“Operators from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Police, and the NSCDC are working feverishly to free those who are trapped,” the statement reads.
Others who had suffered severe injuries were being sent to the hospital. Additionally, efforts are being made to transport the truck and the vehicle’s wreckage to the police station so that more investigation can be conducted.
