The suspects, identified as Uche Ibejiako, 26, from Owerri Municipal; Mariano Daniel, 24, from Delta State; Michael Chukwuemeka, 23, from Umuokwu Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area (LGA); and Anointing Ezeh, 23, from Umugada Irete in Owerri West LGA, were arrested following a strategic operation intended to combat cult-related activities within the state, according to a release signed by the command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye, and provided to newsmen on Sunday.

“All four suspects have admitted to being part of the notorious criminal organization, Black Axe Confraternity. To obtain more proof of their actions, an ongoing inquiry has been launched. When this extensive investigation is over, the suspects will face charges in court.

The public is asked to “continue supporting our efforts to combat crime by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” according to State Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma. He further notes that these coordinated efforts are “crucial in maintaining peace and security across the state.”

On July 27, 2024, Chibueze Kalu, a 25-year-old alleged cultist, was also taken into custody by the state command, who also found one locally manufactured pistol on him.

Kalu acknowledged that he was a member of the Fraternity of Black Axe.
