Nevertheless, despite the protests’ increasing popularity, several nations have disregarded them and are continuing with business as usual.
For example, it was reported that youths in Bayelsa State disregarded the protest, which led to Senator Douye Diri, the state governor, praising them.
He congratulated the young people of Bayelsa for responding to his request to stay away from the demonstrations, stressing that their decision showed a dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the state.
Governor Diri voiced alarm about the protests’ beginnings, claiming that political personalities who were defeated in the 2023 gubernatorial contest were behind them. He claimed that these politicians were using the national disturbance as cover to incite mayhem in Bayelsa.
The interests of the state are not what these people are concerned with. Governor Diri declared, “They want to sabotage the progress and tranquility we have been trying so hard to preserve.”
