Following an investigation into the Tuesday, July 23, incident, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) made the suspension announcement on Thursday, July 25. The video has caused a great deal of public indignation and alarm.

An independent investigation into the officer’s “level of force” has been initiated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). “We appreciate the footage shared on social media has attracted widespread shock and concern,” said the IOPC.

Two guys were taken into custody by police after the incident on Tuesday night on suspicion of assault and assaulting an emergency personnel, among other offenses.
