This was revealed in a statement released in Katsina on Thursday by ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the Command’s public relations officer.
He noted that the Jibia Local Government Area, in association with Hunters and the State’s Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), had recorded the success.

In cooperation with the KSCWC and Hunters, a group of police officers affiliated to Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended two suspects in Jibia LGA on July 25, 2024, when they were on a normal patrol. The suspects were all from Zandam village.

He said, “The suspects were apprehended near the Magama Cemetery with two rams, one sheep, and a goat that were allegedly rustled.”

He continued by saying that over the course of the inquiry, the two admitted to having obtained the stolen animals from Nura, a reputed bandit commander who is now at large from Mazanya village in Jibia.

The person who took the photo claimed that the suspects were en route to Jibia local government’s Magama market to dispose of the animals. He claims that the defendants have admitted to repeatedly receiving and disposing of allegedly rustled animals from the criminals’ boss.

While the inquiry is ongoing, Sadiq-Aliyu affirmed that more efforts were being made to secure the arrest of the evading suspect. He clarified that the command, led by Commissioner Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, had been fighting armed banditry for a long time, and this had been the reason for their success.
