In a statement released on Monday, July 22, 2024, the advocacy group Women For Change stated that on July 7, Zintle’s partially decapitated body was discovered in mud puddles in Kraaifontein.
The evening before the murder, the dead was spotted strolling around Bloekombos.
The deceased had been stabbed, according to community leader Gavin Riddles, and her eyes had swollen shut.
Churchgoers found Zintle’s half-naked body in a puddle of water between homes in a new housing complex in Bloekombos. Women For Change claims that Zintle was rapped before she was murdered.
We are devastated by the passing of such a lovely soul. Sister, soar high.
Saturday, July 20, was the day the deceased was laid to rest.
Gavin went on to say that this is the community’s second homicide.
“The last homicide happened late at night as well. We are pleading with the government to step in, even if it’s merely to put up temporary street lights, because people are currently living in fear,” he said.
“Crime has become rampant here, and people are afraid to leave their houses in the morning or at night. In order to reduce crime and provide a safe environment, we also want to ask the police to increase their patrols here and to collaborate with the locals.
