In the ruling read out by Justice James Omotosho, the court ruled that the Edo State House of Assembly’s attempted impeachment of him was unlawful, unconstitutional, and void. It concluded that there had been a flagrant breach of both section 188 and section 35 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, by the aforementioned impeachment.

In addition to giving him back his position as Deputy Governor, the court ruled that he should receive all of his income from the time of his illegitimate impeachment on April 8 until the end of his term.

The Edo State House of Assembly and Governor Godwin Obaseki are prohibited by a perpetual injunction given by the court from preventing Shaibu from carrying out his official duties.

Additionally, it mandated that the Inspector General of Police promptly reinstate all of his security credentials.

The Edo Assembly’s argument for impeaching the plaintiff, according to the court, was flimsy and reeked of an ochestrated political vendetta.
