A first-year UNN student was discovered dead in a drainage

A first-year student's untimely demise has been confirmed by the University of Nigeria Nsukka administration. The student's lifeless body was found in a drainage on Friday, July 5.

The dead, Favour Okenyi, was discovered on the campus close to Akanu Ibiam Stadium. She was employed in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

Okwun Omeaku, the acting public relations officer for the institution, confirmed the occurrence in a statement released on Sunday in Nsukka.

He declared that the untimely loss of the young student has shocked and grieved the university community deeply.

“We are presently looking into the circumstances surrounding the death in order to help with our investigations and find the person or people who committed the evil act,” he stated.
In addition to expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, the statement noted that the university administration was working with law enforcement and the family to determine the cause of the deceased’s death in order to stop any future incidents.

“The disturbing finding of a deceased body recovered in a drainage near Akanu Ibiam Stadium, UNN, shook the university community on Friday, July 5.

“The University administration expresses its sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased for the untimely death of such a promising young student and is terribly saddened by the loss of our student.

The statement also stated that “the management is working with security agencies and the deceased’s family to determine the circumstances surrounding her death and to prevent any potential recurrence of such incidents in the future.”
