The Nigerian international was once thought to be on the Gunners’ big-money radar, but they have now moved on to other options.

Victor Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon is now preferred by the north London club, according to Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia.

Osimhen’s new contract, which he signed in December 2023, makes his pay too high, but the Gunners are considering a move for the Gyokores because they think their prospective pay is more reasonable.

They would still need to pay Gyökeres’ Portuguese club €100 million in transfer fees to get his services.

Osimhen is also connected to Chelsea and Manchester United, two Premier League rivals.
A lack of suitor proposals for Osimhen has reportedly led to claims in Italy that he will begin the preseason with Napoli. Arsenal is the most recent team to abandon Napoli’s pursuit of Osimhen, despite the club cutting the asking price from the original €130 million clause to €100 million.

Manchester United and Chelsea have expressed interest in Osimhen, who hopes to play in the Premier League, but no formal approaches have been made.

Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, is aggressively working on the sale and hopes to profit this summer from Osimhen, who has been instrumental in the team’s recent accomplishments, notably their 2022–23 Scudetto-winning season.

A player-plus-cash bid for Osimhen has reportedly been made by the Devils; if accepted, Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund will go from Old Trafford to Naples.
