“It is the handiwork of detractors who want to undermine the state to achieve their evil plans,” he declared.
The governor alleged that some youths were hired to engage in a protest to demand for extension of tenure for former local government chairmen who had served out their statutory three-year tenure.
“The protesters and their sponsors were aware that some members of the National Assembly were guests at the Hotel Presidential, that was their reason for the attempt to detonate an explosive device near the facility.
Because you people were present, there was a plot to blow up the Hotel Presidential using dynamite. However, the God we worship decided to blow off the man’s hands a few seconds after he set it off in an attempt to do it.
“The idea was that by the time they were done and you went back to your sitting tomorrow, the debate would be from someone from this state who called you people to tell you not to come,” was the rationale behind the declaration of emergency.
Because someone seemed to be above the law, Fubara questioned why the law was either mute about the offense or took its time to punish the criminal.
“Has tenure elongation for former local government chairmen been a problem anywhere in the nation?” Fubara enquired.
According to Fubara, no governor in Nigeria could withstand even 10% of the insults leveled at him by the outgoing local government councils.
Is it because Rivers’ Constitution is different from the one that controls Nigeria? These are the important questions that need to be asked.
Why is there always silence from the legal community on Rivers’ case? Is there someone who is more powerful than Nigeria? I want you to return with that inquiry, Fubara remarked.
Fubara advised the committee to take Rivers’ interests into consideration when recommending the privatization and commercialization of state-owned businesses. He claimed that when the government purchases shares in these businesses, the businesses may receive the protection and oversight they need to be successful.

“We cannot safeguard those assets until we are the owners. The assets don’t become feasible for the state or the Federal Republic of Nigeria until we own them, the speaker said.
Orji Uzo Kalu, the chairman of the committee, had previously stated that the team was in Rivers to oversee some projects that fell under its jurisdiction.
Kalu, the senatorial district representative for Abia North, praised Fubara for his commitment to providing high-quality government and his love of peace.
He also gave him credit for maintaining his pace in creating the ideal environment for economic expansion.
In order to promote peace in Rivers, Kalu pleaded with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to take up the sword and issue an order to his supporters.
“Wike needs to prioritize the state’s interest over all other factors,” he declared.
Kalu emphasized that peace was a wonderful thing and praised Fubara and his staff for the good work they were doing in the state.
“I would like to express my gratitude as you appear to be a very content man. You have a calm man’s face. Your laugh reveals a calm man. Thus, I would like you to carry on in that peaceful manner.
Nothing compares to tranquility. Permit those who are taking advantage of this issue to cease doing so.
“We are pleading with you to keep your people in check. If your people protest like the rest of the population, chaos will ensue, and chaos is bad.”I want to beg you to follow the laws of this country. I beg you to follow the provisions of the Constitution. I implore you to follow the Judiciary’s rulings as well.
He went on, “Wait for every judicial interpretation and act upon it.”
In order to accomplish goals that would benefit both parties and further the interests of all Nigerians, Kalu promised that the committee would be prepared to collaborate with the state government.
