During a Wednesday press conference in Lokoja, Eunice Achimugu, the governor’s Special Advisor (SA) on drug abuse and illicit trafficking, disclosed this information.
According to Achimugu, the governor’s wife also pledged to construct a center for skill acquisition where young people, including drug addicts undergoing treatment, may receive training in a variety of trades to make them productive members of society.

She clarified that in order to combat illegal drug misuse and trafficking in the state, the state government worked with Kogi Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to implement the actions that were taken.

It’ll be wrong if we just sit and watch our youths being destroyed by illicit drugs. The youths are the leaders of tomorrow and must be protected.

“Drastic measures have to be taken to save our youths, who are ignorant of the Inherent danger in those illicit drugs, ” she said.

According to the SA, one strategy for combating drug misuse involves merely displaying video clips while going to schools to educate the public about the risks associated with illicit narcotics.

She declared that this government would continue working with the NDLEA to combat the threat and save the youths from certain death.

For this reason, in June 2024, we collaborated with NDLEA to commemorate the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking, with the subject “Addressing Drug Challenges In Health And Humanitarian Crisis.”
