According to reports, the material was confiscated by the NCS’s Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos Command. At a media conference on the command’s first quarter actions on Wednesday at the MMA, Compt. Mohammed Yusuf, the command’s Customs Area Controller, said the tramadol recovered was beyond the legal limit for importation into the country.
He claimed that 22 packets of tramadol with a dosage of 225 milligrams and 12 packets with a dosage of 120 milligrams came from the storage facilities of the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Limited and the Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.
Yusuf stated that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency will receive the seized narcotics and take further action.
According to reliable intelligence, the command discovered packages containing pharmaceutical products, including 22 packets of 225 mg tramadol and 12 packets of 120 mg tramadol, which were hidden and brought into the nation via Pakistan and India.
“The aforementioned seizures were reported based on actions conducted inside the airport using intelligence. The seizure’s total Duty Paid Value (DPV) was N1.8 billion.
“In the spirit of inter-agency cooperation, the Tramadol tablets under our control are due to be turned over to the Narcotics Commander, MMA, command of NDLEA. This will improve our ability to work together to protect our young people from using chemicals that could jeopardize both their health and the environment. We’ll work harder to make our neighborhoods a safer place for everyone to live.
