The governor of Nigeria, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has been accused of sacking his Chief Security Officer following the impeachment of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Some media outlets have reported that Fubara used his authority to stamp his hand against loyalists of Wike. Fubara’s CoS, Hon. Amadi, is Wike’s kinsman from Obio/Akpor LGA, who was appointed under Wike’s administration. The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Johnson, has dismissed these unfounded reports, describing Fubara as a technocrat with a robust civil service background and a kind-hearted individual who follows rules and the fear of God. Johnson has asked Rivers people and the general public to dismiss these unconfirmed reports, as the public will be informed of any potential removals by the governor. Johnson will keep the public updated on events in due course. The state government has not given any directive regarding the governor’s actions.
