Rema also became the first African to perform at the Ballon d’Or event, which is held annually by the France Football Federation to honor the finest players in the world. Rema sang his popular track ‘Calm Down’ for the guests, who included superstar footballers from all around the world, during the event in Paris.

Rema remarked on his social media pages that it was an honor for him to carry Afrobeats to the global stage, while thanking God for grace.

Rema joins Davido and Burna Boy among Nigerian artists who have played on some of football’s biggest stages with his appearance at the Ballon d’Or presentation.

Davido performed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar, becoming the first Nigerian to do so, while Burna Boy performed at the 2023 Champions League final in Istanbul, becoming the first African to do so.
