He will be detained until Wednesday, when the Department of State Services (DSS) filed a two-count cybercrime case against him for referring to President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal” in a social media post.

After the court revoked the bail it had previously given Sowore, he was placed under remand.

On June 16, Trial Judge Mohammed Umar issued an arrest warrant for the defendant in addition to revoking the bail.

Following the defendant’s failure to appear in court for the continuation of his trial, the arrest order was issued. The defendant was billed to present his defense against the charge.

After his legal team withdrew from the lawsuit, Sowore had already chosen to represent himself in court.

In the meantime, a motion to disqualify Justice Umar from presiding over the trial due to claimed bias was denied in a verdict on Monday.
