- ekiti election
- Ekiti voters are hailed by the South-West APC for Oyebamiji's reelection.
The party stated that this electoral outcome showcases the informed decision-making of the Ekiti populace, who prioritize the well-being of their state and country. In a statement from zonal Publicity Secretary Ayobami Afolabi, Oyebamiji’s victory was described as unprecedented, reflecting the appreciation for quality leadership from both him and President Bola Tinubu.
According to reports, Oyebamiji won the governorship election against candidates from approximately 13 political parties, marking him as the first incumbent governor in Ekiti to secure re-election. Afolabi noted that around 90% of the votes across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas were cast for the APC candidate, signaling strong support from the residents. He emphasized that the party does not take this mandate lightly and has called on the governor and other officials to enhance their commitment to delivering quality leadership and effective services.
With upcoming elections in Osun State, Afolabi expressed hope that voters there would uphold mainstream politics and choose a governor they can be proud of globally. He also appealed to South-West stakeholders to revive the development ideologies of the region’s founders, particularly stressing Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s leadership philosophy. He encouraged the people of the South-West to reconnect with the values that propelled the region forward in the mid-20th century, cautioning that none of the states can lag behind.
In closing, Afolabi thanked Ekiti voters for their continued support and urged them to further bolster their backing in future elections, particularly for the APC and President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that doing so will yield greater democratic benefits and historical recognition for the electorate.
