The Ondo State Police Command has detained a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for the alleged murder of his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, following a violent confrontation in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area. The incident occurred on May 28, 2026, when the two were involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical assault. The altercation left the elder Kingsley with critical injuries, particularly to the head, and despite being rushed to a medical facility, he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

The event was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, the deceased’s son and the suspect’s brother, prompting an immediate investigation by the police. The spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, outlined that the police swiftly apprehended Nsikak Kingsley after receiving the complaint. The deceased’s body has been sent to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case is under the purview of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for an in-depth investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, expressed strong disapproval of the incident, labeling it unfortunate and against societal norms. He emphasized the commitment of the police to justice and encouraged peaceful dispute resolution methods to prevent violence. In light of the circumstances, he urged the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, promoting collective safety and adherence to the law. Nsikak Kingsley remains in custody pending further investigations and is expected to face legal charges.
