The update was confirmed on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, in a statement released in Abuja.

Initially, the party had scheduled governorship and State House of Assembly primaries for May 27, while the presidential and National Assembly primaries were fixed for May 29.

However, Asogwa disclosed that all the primaries will now take place on the same day, May 30.

He explained that the adjustment was made due to the overlap between the earlier timetable and important national events.

According to him, the party considered the significance of the Sallah celebration and the May 29 Democracy Day anniversary before deciding to reschedule the exercises.

“In recognition of the importance of the Sallah festivities and the national significance of the May 29 anniversary, the Labour Party decided to adjust its timetable to allow members, aspirants, supporters and Nigerians adequate opportunity to observe these occasions,” the statement said.

The party added that the decision was taken to promote inclusiveness and demonstrate sensitivity to national events.

Labour Party also apologised for any inconvenience the new arrangement may cause aspirants, party members and stakeholders.
