Chief Priest, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, made the statement during a livestream session with popular streamer, Peller.

In the viral clip making rounds online on Wednesday, the celebrity barman spoke about what he believes is lingering doubt from the presidency due to his political history and ethnic background.

According to him, “President Bola Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He look me with one eye because he believes that this one that worked for Peter Obi before during the last election.”

Explaining why he switched support from Obi to Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest said he no longer wanted to keep backing a losing side politically.

When asked why he abandoned Peter Obi, he responded, “Because I don’t want to lose again because they say first fool no be fool, na the second fool be proper fool.”

The businessman also downplayed Peter Obi’s chances ahead of the 2027 presidential race, claiming the former Labour Party candidate was “not serious” and insisting that “the serious people will win.”

The remarks have generated mixed reactions across social media, with some Nigerians accusing him of political opportunism and questioning his loyalty to the Igbo community.

Others, however, defended his comments, saying they reflect the reality of Nigeria’s political system where many people align with whoever appears likely to win.

Cubana Chief Priest was one of the outspoken supporters of Peter Obi and the Labour Party during the buildup to the 2023 elections.

He has since pitched his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Tinubu.

The socialite recently obtained an APC primary nomination form to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives but later stepped down on the morning of the primary election held on Saturday.
