The Balmoral Convention Centre on Victoria Island and Foodies Restaurant on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I, Eti-Osa, are the impacted establishments.

According to a post obtained on Wednesday from Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State, the enforcement exercise was conducted on Tuesday.

He stated that the action was a component of the agency’s continuous efforts to reduce pollution in the environment and guarantee adherence to wastewater laws throughout the state.

LSWMO claims that the Balmoral Convention Center was sealed due to wastewater overflow from a blocked sewage chamber and “indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain” through pumping equipment, which allegedly generated an unpleasant odor and public annoyance in the vicinity.

Foodies Restaurant was closed, according to the government, for dumping untreated wastewater with high fat and oil content into public drains, which blocked drainage channels and polluted the environment.

Both sites had previously received warnings, according to LSWMO officials, but they had disregarded the necessary environmental regulations.

According to a government official, enforcement action was required to uphold cleanliness standards and safeguard public health.

According to the organization, “the discharge of untreated wastewater into public drains poses serious environmental and health risks to residents.”

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed that failure to comply with wastewater management regulations will result in penalties for all citizens, companies, and property managers.

LSWMO issued a warning: “Any individual or organization found in violation of environmental regulations will be met with appropriate sanctions and possibly prosecution in accordance with the enabling laws.”

The organization also stated that in an effort to enhance urban cleanliness and lessen pollution and drain blockages, monitoring and enforcement activities will continue throughout the state.
