El-Rufai, who was on trial for alleged corruption, had just finished a hearing on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission’s bail plea when DSS agents put him in a waiting car and drove him off, allegedly to Abuja.

Before the hearing, there was a significant DSS presence in the courtroom, which fueled rumors that the former governor may be arrested.

According to security sources, cars had been placed strategically across the court before the hearings.

Arriving to the court in a Hilux van at approximately 9:05 a.m., El-Rufai attracted the attention of security guards and onlookers.

Lead defense attorney Oluwole Iyamu (SAN) revealed to reporters following the hearings that the court had scheduled a decision on the bail application for April 14.

The decision is scheduled for April 14 after the bail application was contested and addressed. “We eagerly anticipate that day. We have hope. This is a court of justice, and we have presented our reasons before it.

“We await the court’s decision,” he continued.

The defense team is ready for a related case that is set for April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, he added, characterizing it as “a separate matter.”

“That is a different issue. We are prepared as attorneys. We will appear in court after filing all required paperwork. “That’s the DSS issue,” he stated.

The development came after the adjournment on Tuesday, when legal discussions over a move to recuse the presiding judge, Rilwan M. Aikawa, briefly confused the proceedings until it was dropped.

El-Rufai and Amadu Sule were previously charged with abuse of power, fraud, and conferring undue benefit before the Kaduna State High Court in Kawo. The Federal High Court case has nothing to do with the charges. Throughout Wednesday’s hearings, there was severe security, with armed agents limiting mobility and preventing journalists from entering the courtroom.
