The Nigerian High Commission issued a 10-point advisory for Nigerians in South Africa amid escalating tensions following the controversial installation of Solomon Ogbonna Eziko, an Igbo leader, as a local king.
Violence erupted in KuGompo City, Eastern Cape, with protesters targeting foreign nationals’ properties in reaction to this event. Local authorities condemned the coronation, deeming it disrespectful to traditions, and emphasized that only existing local kings should be recognized.
The High Commission urged Nigerians to prioritize safety, limit movements, and avoid inflammatory statements to prevent further unrest.
