Speaking in response to the rumours, Chuka Iwobi clarified that the Super Eagles midfielder was not even in the country when the alleged incident was said to have happened. According to him, the Fulham player had already travelled to Turkey to join up with the national team ahead of their international friendlies.

The false reports had claimed that armed men broke into Iwobi’s residence and stole valuables worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, including jewellery, gadgets, and cash. However, his father firmly denied any such event, stressing that his son is safe and focused on national duty.

Iwobi has since been confirmed among the early arrivals at the team’s training camp in Antalya, where Nigeria is preparing for upcoming matches against Iran and Jordan. Several other players have also joined camp as preparations intensify.

Chuka Iwobi also expressed frustration over how quickly the rumour spread online, noting that he received numerous calls from concerned people and had to repeatedly reassure them that the story was false.

Nigeria is scheduled to face Iran first before taking on Jordan a few days later, with both matches set to be played in Turkey due to security-related adjustments. Meanwhile, Iwobi remains an important part of the squad as the team continues its preparations.
