Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has publicly denied ever being friends with Tonto Dikeh, shutting down long-standing claims that she betrayed the actress by getting involved with her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill.
For years, social media narratives have painted Meurer as Tonto’s former best friend who later “snatched” Churchill from her. The controversy dates back to 2017, when Churchill and Tonto’s marriage collapsed amid allegations of infidelity and domestic violence. At the time, Meurer was accused of having an affair with Churchill, claims she denied, describing both Churchill and Tonto as “family.”
In an old video that resurfaced online, Meurer had said: “He remains family to me. His wife remains family to me. We’ve hung out together before and I don’t see a big deal there. People should stop saying things that they do not know.”
Fast forward to 2021, three years after Churchill and Tonto’s divorce; Meurer married him. The union reignited public backlash, with critics pointing to her earlier comments as contradictory.
Now, in a new Instagram video released Wednesday, Meurer firmly rejected the narrative that she was ever close to Tonto.
According to her, the story has been built on lies amplified by blogs and social media users.“I was never my husband’s ex’s friend, not to talk of best friend. I have never met her. I have never seen her. She doesn’t have my number, I don’t have her number,” she said.
“People say she introduced me to her husband and I snatched him, that’s not true. If anyone has proof otherwise, I dare you to bring it.”
She added that she met Churchill independently and had no connection to what she described as “that other life that he had.”
Tonto Dikeh married Olakunle Churchill in August 2015. They welcomed their son, King Andre, in February 2016. By July 2017, the marriage had ended in a highly publicized and messy divorce.
Nearly a decade later, the narrative surrounding the triangle still sparks heated online debate; proof that in the age of digital memory, old stories rarely stay buried.
Whether this latest clarification settles the matter or fuels fresh arguments remains to be seen.
