The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has paid tribute to legendary American gospel singer Ron Kenoly, who passed away at 81.

Kenoly’s death was confirmed Tuesday, sparking condolences from Christian leaders, gospel musicians, and worship communities worldwide.

In a statement, PFN President Bishop Francis Wale Oke described Kenoly as “a true worshipper whose life and ministry were devoted to glorifying God.” He added, “He carried the presence of God wherever he ministered, lifting hearts and nations into an atmosphere of reverence.”

Born on December 6, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly gained international recognition for his energetic, choir-driven worship style and live recordings that became staples in churches across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Over his career, he released more than 20 albums, including Jesus Is Alive, Ancient of Days, and God Is Able.

Beyond music, Kenoly served as pastor and worship leader at Jubilee Christian Centre in San Jose, California, and frequently spoke at international worship conferences. PFN extended its condolences to his family, noting that his legacy would “continue to speak across generations.”
