Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid and Asake have released a collaborative EP titled REAL, Vol. 1, bringing together two of Nigeria’s most influential contemporary artists on a single project.

The four-track EP has been eagerly anticipated, following the success of their past collaborations and their individual dominance within the genre. Fans and industry observers have long speculated about a deeper partnership between the two artists.

Speaking about the project, Asake revealed that REAL, Vol. 1 grew out of a series of informal conversations between himself and Wizkid. According to him, those discussions centered on life, music, and shared perspectives, gradually evolved into a creative direction for the EP.

He described the project as a reflection of authenticity and genuine connection, explaining that it represents “real people in one room… genuine people, heart-to-heart conversations every time.”

The public got its first glimpse of the collaboration with the surprise release of “Jogodo” on January 16, 2026. The song, which appears as the second track on the EP, quickly gained momentum across major Nigerian streaming platforms and became an early standout among listeners.

Across the project, Wizkid’s smooth, understated melodies merge with Asake’s rhythm-driven, street-inspired sound, creating a cohesive and easy-going listening experience.

Both artists have played significant roles in Afrobeats’ expansion beyond Africa, and REAL, Vol. 1 highlights the genre’s continued growth through collaboration and creative exchange.
