She passed away in a Lagos hospital on January 12, 2026, according to the post, which included a picture of the corpse and a brief video.

“With great sadness 💔😭we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye OMIJE OJUMI, passed away on January 12th, 2026 at Lagos hospital, Nigeria,” it said in part. God bless her with eternal rest.

Akinnaanu had publicly requested prayers for a leg issue a few months prior, albeit the reason of death was not made public.
A video from a service at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan in October 2025 shows the gospel singer sitting with her leg outstretched on a chair while a cleric prayed for her.

The pastor had discussed the leg’s ongoing bleeding, characterizing it as a spiritual assault.
There is no proof, though, that the illness had anything to do with her passing.

Akinnaanu started singing at an early age and eventually quit her job as a banker to focus entirely on gospel music.

Her popular song “Omije Ojumi,” which became a mainstay in Nigerian churches and Christian families, catapulted her to fame.
