Vice President Nana Shettima’s wife, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole attended the event alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Dignitaries such as former Osun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, Deputy Governor of Osun State Kola Adewusi, and former Osun First Lady Kafayat Oyetola were also present.
Among the traditional leaders in attendance were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III; the Orangun of Ila, Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun; and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
“Today is not a day of long speeches, I want to thank the people of Ile-Ife, I also thank the Ooni of Ile-Ife for bestowing such honor,” Mrs. Tinubu continued, praising Ooni for receiving the title.
“Nigeria’s happiness has arrived; we will demonstrate how things are done to those who are curious about how we wish to accomplish it. Nigeria will be prosperous by 2026, and we will be financing to other countries. In a combination of Yoruba and English, she stated, “It is important to say here at the source of the Yoruba race today that during the administration of President Bola Tinubu, people will wonder how he has been able to achieve such milestone.”
Speaking earlier, Oba Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, stated that Oluremi Tinubu had backed him ever since he took the throne, pointing out the important role that former President Obasanjo had also been playing to support the throne.
Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, asked for prayers for Ooni’s long reign and for the nation’s leaders to guide the populace in the proper direction in his message of goodwill.
Speaking to the assembly, Governor Adeleke claimed that Oba Ogunwusi had reinvented the custom and added a touch of refinement to royalty, making Yoruba a proud people globally.
“Our royal father exemplified what it means to be a powerful royal parent. His majesty alters the story of conventional rulership with its solid economic foundation and boundless potential for local and international networking. His imperial majesty has advanced the designation of Ile-Ife as the Yoruba people’s cultural capital throughout the past ten years.
The state government would support the Ooni “as we implement that same vision of an upgraded cultural capital of Yoruba people,” according to Adeleke.
In keeping with that goal, our administration started upgrading Ile-Ife’s infrastructure; 14 roads have been finished so far, and several more are still in progress. Adeleke stated, “We are going to finish the first flyover in this Yoruba nation’s cradle.
