With goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and a brace from Victor Osimhen, Nigeria qualified for the final World Cup playoffs on Thursday at the Moulay Hassan Stadium.
Fans celebrated the triumph on social media after the game and encouraged the team to stay focused for their Sunday matchup with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On Thursday night, Abubakar expressed his pride in the club on his official X Twitter.
“I’m proud that the @NGSuperEagles gave Nigeria a chance to compete in the 2026 World Cup Africa playoff final. -AA,” wrote Abubakar.
Obi, however, pointed out that the team’s performance emphasizes how crucial it is to invest in talent.
“I made sure to watch the Super Eagles game against Gabon despite my hectic schedule, which included traveling from Lagos to Abuja for the Guild of Editors event and then to Anambra.” As I normally do after every one of their victories, my quick tweet was forgotten due to my joy following the match for the great victory.

Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also praised the group for their self-control.

Tuggar commented, “Well done to the team for maintaining discipline and finishing strong.”
Joshua Sogunle, another X user, gave the team’s overall performance high marks.
“I haven’t seen the Nigerian Super Eagles perform this well in a long time. Passing precision, technical efficiency, hunger, and dribbles all contribute to a monstrous command of the game.
If we had played half of the qualifiers in this manner, we wouldn’t have been in the playoffs.
“I’m not missing European football; I’m watching the Super Eagles today.” I never thought watching African football could be that lovely.

In March, the winner of the match between Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo would advance to a six-nation FIFA intercontinental competition.
