Beckham, who has called himself a “huge royalist,” was appointed an ambassador for the King’s Foundation last year. The King founded the educational foundation in 1990.
He is renowned for his fashionable wardrobe selections, and GQ magazine awarded him the most stylish man of the year in 1998. and he has modeled for brands including Boss, Armani, and H&M.
In 1999, Beckham wed Victoria, with whom he has four children: Harper, Cruz, Romeo, and Brooklyn.
West End actress Elaine Paige and Nobel Prize-winning novelist Kazuo Ishiguro will also be honored on Tuesday.
Ishiguro’s contributions to literature earned him the title of Companion of Honour.
George V established the Order of the Companions of Honour in 1917, and it can only have 65 members at a time. Those who have long contributed to the arts, sciences, healthcare, or government are appointed.
The 70-year-old Japanese author, who immigrated to the UK as a youngster, is well-known for his novels “Never Let Me Go” (2005) and “The Remains Of The Day” (1989), for which he was awarded the Man Booker Prize.
His third book, “The Remains of the Day,” was made into a movie starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. The movie received eight Oscar nominations in 1993.
The Oscar-nominated script for the 2022 movie “Living,” starring Bill Nighy as a civil servant who enjoys life despite learning he is dying, was written by Ishiguro, who is himself a film writer.
Born Elaine Bickerstaff in north London in 1948, Paige rose to fame overnight as Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical “Evita,” earning her a damehood for her contributions to music and philanthropy.
The 77-year-old, who was nominated with her co-star David Essex, won the Olivier Award for performance of the year in a musical following the show’s 1978 premiere.
In addition to starring in films like “Cats,” “Chess,” “Piaf,” and “Sunset Boulevard,” she has more recently acted in pantomimes at The London Palladium.
Over the course of her career, she has recorded over 20 solo albums and one chart-topping hit, “I Know Him So Well,” featuring Barbara Dickson.
She has also received other honors, such as the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors’ Gold Badge of Merit in 1993.
