Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has marked another milestone in his marriage with a lavish gesture : gifting his wife, Chioma Adeleke, a brand-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.

The 32-year-old singer shared a video on Instagram capturing the moment he picked up the luxury SUV, explaining with a grin that he had traded in an older model to secure the latest release. As he unveiled the car, Davido summed up his motivation simply: “Only the best for my lady.”

Chioma’s reaction was one of visible excitement, with Davido cheering her on as she explored the sleek new vehicle.

Often described as a status symbol among global celebrities, the G-Wagon has long been a favourite of athletes, entertainers and business moguls. The 2025 edition, priced from about $150,000 (£123,000)  comes with upgraded technology and new electric options, cementing its place as one of the year’s most talked-about luxury cars.

The surprise comes just weeks after the couple’s headline-making white wedding in Miami, which capped off a three-year journey through multiple ceremonies: a court marriage in 2023, a traditional wedding in Lagos in 2024, and finally, a star-studded celebration in August 2025 said to have cost around $3.7m (£3m).

For Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, moments like this are as much about personal devotion as they are about public image. One of Africa’s most successful artists, he has helped propel Afrobeats to the global stage through chart-topping hits and collaborations with the likes of Chris Brown, Summer Walker and Nicki Minaj.
