Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says he has no plans to block online trolls, and his reason is as bold as his music.

The Grammy-nominated singer, who has become just as famous for his unfiltered social media style as for his chart-topping hits, explained that he prefers to let critics stay on his timeline so they can watch his success unfold in real time.

“I no dey block. I want you to see my moves, but I’ll still curse your papa,” Davido wrote on X (formerly Twitter), mixing English and Nigerian Pidgin in a post that quickly caught fire online.

For Davido, a father of five and one of Afrobeats’ biggest global exports, blocking haters would mean giving them an easy exit. Keeping them around, he suggests, forces them to confront the very wins they hoped to undermine.

The post sparked a flurry of reactions. Some fans praised his confidence and refusal to be silenced, while others noted that his sharp clapbacks have become part of his online brand, making him one of the most outspoken figures in African music.

Beyond Davido, the debate highlights a broader shift: how celebrities navigate relentless trolling in the digital age. For some, it’s silence. For others, like Davido, it’s letting the critics watch while keeping the last word.

With millions of followers across the globe, Davido continues to dominate not just through his music but through a social media presence where fans and trolls alike remain front-row spectators.
