A country was shocked as the shooter, posing as a food delivery courier, approached Parubiy and started shooting. He allegedly fired eight rounds before rushing off on an electric bike.

Parubiy, who is 54 years old, has long been a driving force behind Ukraine’s state-building and pro-democracy activities.

The assassination was immediately condemned as a “horrific murder” by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who also promised to use all available means to find the perpetrator. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko and Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko were said to be in charge of the inquiry.
People of all political stripes responded with sorrow and determination. While praising Parubiy’s commitment to strengthening Ukrainian defenses, former President Petro Poroshenko denounced the murder as “a shot fired at the heart of Ukraine” in a Telegram message.

Although Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko referred to it as “a profound loss,” highlighting his unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s future, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha praised him as “a patriot and statesman” essential to the nation’s struggle for sovereignty.

Even though detectives have begun a massive manhunt known as “Operation Siren,” no suspect has been caught and no clear reason has been found as of yet. While they haven’t identified a clear link, they haven’t ruled out possible linkages to the conflict with Russia.
