Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD, was taken into custody Friday morning at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport as he attempted to board a flight out of Nigeria. His destination? Qatar. But according to court restrictions, he wasn’t supposed to leave the country.

The arrest is tied to the domestic violence case surrounding the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, a tragic story that has captured national attention since 2022. The case is still active in court, and authorities say IVD had been barred from international travel until proceedings were concluded.

Sources familiar with the case say IVD’s attempt to travel abroad directly violated standing court instructions. Security personnel acted quickly, detaining him before his departure.

He’s now expected to remain in custody until Monday, August 4, when he’ll appear in court.

IVD’s current partner popular influencer Blessing CEO has confirmed news of his arrest. One source described her as “running around, making calls, trying to figure out how to help him.”

Once admired for his flashy car dealership and internet persona, IVD is now battling serious legal trouble in one of the most talked-about domestic violence cases Nigeria has seen in years.

While his supporters argue for his innocence, the circumstances surrounding Bimbo’s death remain deeply unsettling and unresolved.
